Upon arriving at Mr. K's Spice Farm, the first thing I noticed was all
the kids hanging around. These kids proved to be very useful
throughout the tour. The spice farm is a farm . . . which grows
spices. Big surprise.
We broke into two groups and set off on two seperate trails. We wound
our way through a maze if different plants and trees, stopping every
couple of yards to smell some crumpled up leaves, freshly plucked from
the tree. These were accompanied with a detailed explanation of the
plant and what it could be used for.
The kids were the workhorses of the operation. Each equipped with a
razor-sharp knife, they diligently ran around cutting samples and
digging up roots.
They had plants that could be used for everything from making lipstick
to a natural Viagra. At the end of the tour, we were graced with the
talents if a boy named Butterfly. He sang while climbing a palm tree;
at the top he cut down coconuts which we were able to drink the mill
of. It was a very interesting and informative tour.
