Numgwi

We departed Jambiani feeling sad because of leaving a place that we had all come to know and love so much, but excited to venture to a new environment with new places to be and new people to meet. After a two hour drive, we arrived in the more touristy town of Numgwi. We were all shocked at the difference between the two towns. The village that we entered appeared the same, but the people just seemed different. It seemed that these villagers did not want our company as much as the villagers of Jambiani. After arriving at our hotel, we all went out to lunch at some of the many restauranta that line the amazing beach here. Then we walked to a sea turtle sanctuary where the more courageous students swam with the turtles.

 

But the highlight of the day was our sunset cruise in a somewhat rickety dhow boat. We all hopped on to the sailboat and headed into the the clear blue sea. After catching whatever rays were remaining to work on our tans, the boat stopped. We all grabbed a soda or two and relaxed for a bit. Then the captain said we were free to jump off the roof off the boat.

 

I think that that part of the sunset cruise made up for the poor sunset since the clouds rolled in just as the sun was setting. Everyone lined up and attempted their coolest flip trick. By then of the the cruise, we had all gotten every person into the water, even Frankel and Ms. Arena (though [Frankel notes] that of the two, only he jumped from the roof). All in all, we had a great time and are all eager to find out what new adventure is to come next.
